About the speaker
Maxwell Folley is a Creative Technology Lead at The Lodge. In 2012 he co-founded Flavor, a small design & tech company out of Portland where he concocted solutions for companies like Facebook & Google while helping launch multiple startups. At Flavor, Maxwell did amazing work that won many awards. Then his company ran out of money while continuing to win more awards.
It was while leading his company through success and impending collapse that he seized an opportunity to buckle down as a multidisciplinary Engineer with the ingenious Lodge team. This has lead him on an inspired path to do meaningful work. For the past 2 years Maxwell has become preoccupied with building robots that people will love. His most recent piece of work, Needybot, is a social robot that lives at W+K’s Portland headquarters with 600+ employees. Needybot, Wieden+Kennedy’s first ever robot, meanders from floor to floor asking for help and assistance. In trade, Needybot makes its helpers joyful, happy and more human.
Maxwell enjoys this work so much that mid-way through a successful and entrepreneurial career he’s returned to school to earn a Master’s degree in Robotics at Georgia Tech. Why? Because robots.
