Tai Snaith on Play
You know how people always say ‘Never work with children or animals’? Well, artist, writer and mother Tai Snaith does both. In this talk she revisits her childhood pets, inspirations and dreams and explores the importance of continuing to see the world through a child’s eye.
About the speaker
With a pervasive playfulness and sense of absurd humour, Tai Snaith works across many materials and within widely varying sites and contexts including collage, drawing, painting, performance, installation and publishing. Born in 1980 in Australia, Snaith Tai has shown extensively both in Australia and overseas. Tai had her first children's book- The Family Hour in Australia published by Thames and Hudson in 2012 and her second book is due out later this year.
This year Tai was the winner of the Banyule Works on paper acquisitive award and shortlisted as a finalist for the Substation Contemporary prize, the Manning Prize, the Hutchins award for works on paper and the Rick Amor drawing prize.
In addition to practicing as an artist, she is a curator, producer, writer and radio reviewer.
