Suzy speaks about the importance of matriarchy and community

About the speaker

Born and raised in Lebanon, Suzy learned to cook in her family's bomb shelter before fleeing to America at age 15 as her homeland was torn apart by civil war. She made her home in the mountains of North Carolina and founded Gypsy Queen Cuisine, drawing a loyal following and pioneering Asheville’s food politics and culture. Through it all, her extraordinary mother has been an inspiration and guiding force.
