Life is full of change. Some things we take charge of and make happen, other things we do not control, they happen to us: Kismet.

In a globalized world it is no longer unusual to live abroad, and people live outside of their countries of origin for a variety of reasons. Work, love, war, the hope for a better life are some examples of circumstances that determine where we live, by choice or not. And sometimes we forget that this means living outside of our comfort zone. In this talk our speaker, Susanne Azen, will talk about the different circumstances that lead women to move “away from home.” Women living internationally are not all thriving expats, different circumstances bring women to move to new countries. But once in a new environment, how can women thrive? How can they address “new” biases, cultural differences, and structural challenges? How can society shift its gender paradigms, and how can we ALL—women and men—empower women and honor their individual stories?
