About the speaker
Sanne Kabalt (Amsterdam, 1989) is an artist. Though she works with visual media – photography and video – her work is about the invisible. Can you see what some one is feeling in a photograph? Where do fear and desire overlap? How does a memory evolve? Sanne is continuously investigating, playing and manipulating with the relation between what you see and what you feel. Her work is not finished until the viewer relates to it. Sanne has exhibited her work for example in Het Nederlands Fotomuseum, Het Gemeentemuseum Den Haag & Art Rotterdam. She has recently published a photographic story in Vrij Nederland. Though she is based in Amsterdam, in the past few years Sanne has often worked as an artist-in-residence in remote places such as Romania and Iceland, or closer to home in Het Pompgemaal Den Helder and Het Vijfde Seizoen Den Dolder, where she is currently working on a project revolving around empathy with psychiatric patients.
