Ruby Rose Fox walks us through the nervous system’s ancient wiring and how it plays a role in our creativity and performance.
Our brains were built for survival, utilizing freeze, fight, and flight to help us live as long as possible. But surviving is not thriving, and despite not having the same threats in our day to day lives as our ancestors, our ancient brain, the nervous system, still turns to these survival responses to help us move through the world. Ruby Rose Fox is a trauma informed performance coach, high functioning artist, and multimedia performer, using knowledge of the nervous system to help artists and performers of all kinds better understand their native states. She believes the nervous system is the canvas for all human behavior and contains the native blueprint for connection, and by understanding it, we can have more meaningful connections both in life and in our creativity (performing, sharing art, etc). We are biologically different people when we are in survival mode, and by knowing more about our early brain’s fear responses, we can help to re-regulate ourselves into a state of safety and from there, connection and success.
