The rebirth of our cultural heritage through the art of restoration
This month, we will discuss the theme ‘RISE’ as it relates to rebirth and revival in the world of cultural heritage and beyond. How often do we look up when we walk down the street? Historic buildings, monuments, and churches have been here long before us—and will remain long after us as the reminders of an era, recounting the history of a place and of those who built and inhabited it. The duty of restorers is to preserve and protect this history, to give these places and artefacts a new lease of life, giving them a ‘voice’ through restoration. Barbara Tomasoni will tell us how restoration means continuing to promote a cultural rebirth in each of us, whether we are aware of it or not.
About the speaker
IT: Barbara Tomasoni, nata a Rovereto, si diploma come Restauratrice su tavola e tela presso l’Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro di Palazzo Spinelli a Firenze (1990-1993). E’ socia titolare con Cristina Gasperotti di Ocra Restauri s.n.c. con la quale instaura collaborazioni in maniera continuativa con la Soprintendenza di Trento e dal 2001 con il Mart, Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto. Negli anni le collaborazioni si sono allargate anche con altri musei, castelli provinciali e edifici ecclesiastici presenti sul territorio. Dal 2017 è Presidente di Categoria dei Restauratori dell’Associazione Artigiani di Trento.
DE: Barbara Tomasoni, geboren in Rovereto, absolvierte eine Ausbildung zur Restauratorin auf Holz und Leinwand am Institut für Kunst und Restaurierung des Palazzo Spinelli in Florenz (1990–1993). Zusammen mit Cristina Gasperotti ist sie Mitinhaberin von Ocra Restauri s.n.c. Gemeinsam konnten die beiden eine kontinuierliche Zusammenarbeit mit der Superintendentur von Trient und seit 2001 mit Mart, dem Museum für moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst von Trient und Rovereto, aufbauen. Im Laufe der Jahre konnten sie auch die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Museen, Schlössern der Provinz und kirchlichen Einrichtungen in der Region ausbauen. Seit 2017 ist Barbara Tomasoni zudem Präsidentin der Kategorie der Restauratorinnen und Restauratoren des Handwerkerverbands von Trient.
