Creator at Creative Elements and Freelancing School.
I’m a writer and podcaster dedicated to creating community online.
I found my way into entrepreneurship because I was taken in by startup culture. But recently, I’ve fully embraced the life of a creator.
I host two podcasts called Creative Elements and upside. Creative Elements interviews high-profile creators like Seth Godin, James Clear, Vanessa Van Edwards, and more to dive into how they were able to break through. And upside is a podcast about early stage investing and startup communities outside Silicon Valley.
In 2019, we produced an award-winning documentary called “Test City, USA” about the startup ecosystem of Columbus, Ohio!
I’m the creator of an education platform called Freelancing School. With three courses, articles, and community support, Freelancing School has the tools to help creatives make a living freelancing.
And I currently lead Community Experience for Smart Passive Income, one of the biggest brands in online business. We believe in the power of community for personal, organization, and societal change, and we want to be a leading participant in the conversation of how community can positively impact entrepreneurial loneliness and isolation.
I joined Smart Passive Income in December 2020 after SPI acquired my private community and virtual accelerator, Unreal Collective.
In my startup life, I was a product manager at a fast-growing startup company (currently valued at over $1.5B) and the co-founder of a digital ticketing startup called Tixers (acquired in 2015).
I feel very fortunate to be a part of two exits, but I feel even more fortunate to have found much more meaning in being a creator. I love writing, podcasting, and creating online courses.
I’ve published seven courses as a LinkedIn Learning instructor, three courses through Freelancing School, and one course on podcasting called Podcast Like The Pros.
In this FieldTrip, we’re going to cover how to create a smooth process for producing a regular podcast.
Using Airtable, Otter, Zapier and Upwork, you’ll see how to get organized, keep ahead of schedule, and regularly publish your podcast.
This workshop is meant to show the exact tools and processes you need to make the “production” side feel easier. Come with ideas for your own show, and we can talk about how they relate to the process.
This workshop is lead by Jay Clouse, host and producer of upside.fm and Creative Elements.
This is a more traditional format where participants absorb information through presentations and talks.
This FieldTrip will not be recorded.

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.
Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.
Wear your beginnerâs hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!Â
Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings communityâjust like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgroundsâa lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.
Weâre all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things. Try âYes! AndâŚâ in conversation.
Itâs 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
