Design and food go hand in hand

Priyal takes us on her not so linear journey of finding her design voice through supper clubs and situational food presentation.

About the speaker

Priyal Mehta is the chef and owner of Dulce de Mirchi. With a
background in design and the culinary arts, she curates
multi-sensory dining experiences where the diners can explore
her playful mélange of flavours and dishes inspired by her third
culture existence.

Priyal studied Strategic Design and Management from Parsons
The New School for Design in New York. She later started her
culinary journey with an intensive and enriching Chef’s training
program at the Natural Gourmet Institute for health & culinary
arts in Manhattan. During her time in the U.S.A., she had the
opportunity to receive training from Jean George’s ABC
Restaurants to learning about Japanese Shojin cuisine at Kajitsu.

As a chef, she wants to design food experiences that introduce
people to plant-based food through carefully crafted menus —
her contemporary creations inspired by her childhood in Asia,
memories from her travels and design explorations.
