About the speaker

Omar is one of the founders of ALIF Partners, where he works to strengthen the for-benefit sector through a multi-disciplinary approach that includes listening, community organizing, tradition, governance, communication, deep research, revenue generation and human centered design.
Additionally, he also teaches Social Entrepreneurship in the MBA program the University of Alberta, and chairs IFSSA, a culturally and spiritually sensitive social service organization that has tripled in size over the last two years. Previously, he worked to build the engagement, growth and education strategy of the Social Enterprise Fund and later launched SustainableWorks, a community efficiency co-op. Omar has also worked with Edmonton Economic Development (EEDC), and helped start SROI Alberta.
He has worked with diverse communities from Canada’s Dené to Nigeria’s Yoruba in six countries. His work has been profiled by CNN Money 2.0 and Global TV. Omar is a recipient of the 2015 Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN) RISE award for Community Leadership.
