“Community is about building new things by putting different insights together” Nuno Mesquita

Nuno is an atypical economist founder of two major projects in Lisbon, Mezze by Pão a Pão a restaurant of middle east cuisine, that was established to integrate refugees from Syria and DOME Ethical Store, a socially conscious store that showcases some of the best ethical brands.

About the speaker

An atypical economist, that’s how Nuno Mesquita would describe himself. Majored from Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão in 2004, Nuno determinedly (and quite sucessfully!) ran away from blue collar jobs.

Nuno has created two companies and an association. He has more than 10 years experience as a business manager for products and projects and has worked in different industries such as telecommunications, mobility and social entrepreneurism.

Since 2015 he has been dedicated to his company Blindesign Ethical Solutions where he has developed numerous projects in social innovation like the Associação Pão a Pão,DOME Store and the Revolta das Embalagens.

With Mezze, a refugee integration project, Nuno got national and international recognition for local based projects as stimulators of the community and engines of integration.

Collaborative economics, people, environment and profit, how to balance everything under one equation?

In this CreativeMornings talk, he will, through his personal testimony, give his vision about the short distance that separates traditional economics from social economics. With examples like Mezze, we shall have a real look over the power of community on positive transformations.
