About the speaker

Melissa Taylor has been in the public library world for nearly 17 years and has worked in libraries from Florida to Colorado. Currently residing in Northwest Arkansas, she is the manager of the Center for Innovation at the Fayetteville Public Library, where she gets to share her passion for innovative technologies through impactful programming and community partnerships. Melissa enjoys challenging the traditional notion of what it means to be a librarian and strives to broaden the impact and influence of public libraries on communities. Her professional interests include emerging technologies for public libraries, the intersection of intellectual freedom and technology, and the seemingly endless fight against censorship. Melissa holds a Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University and a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

When Melissa is not at the library you can find her searching for singletrack on her mountain bike and advocating for eco-friendly cycling through her work with Guerrilla Gravity bikes and the Ride it Grrrl organization.
