About the speaker
Matthew first developed a passion for agriculture whilst serving as a UK diplomat in China. There he witnessed the enormous productivity challenges faced by millions of smallholder farmers, and developed his long-term ambition to find profitable and sustainable solutions to world poverty. After time in China, Iraq, and eventually Boston, Matthew returned to Switzerland and spent several years working for Syngenta. Make sure to ask him about cucurbits. He is now one of the co-founders of Yield Pop, an internet startup that helps farmers with their seed selection decisions.
Matthew is originally from London but grew up near Zürich. He’s an inveterate traveller and outdoor addict, so in his spare time you’ll probably find him with his backpack on a rock face somewhere. Matthew is a graduate of the Harvard Business School.
