About the speaker
Mary Mashburn, a letterpress printer, instructor, and graphic designer, orchestrated the move of the Globe Poster collection to MICA, where she is working to help integrate the tools and methods of a previous generation of printers into the culture of MICA and beyond. With Globe owner Bob Cicero, she produced Globe-inspired posters for New York’s Lincoln Center and Washington, D.C.’s Smithsonian Institution; she and Allison Fisher, Globe Collection coordinator at MICA, just collaborated on a set of posters for the first ever Hello Kitty Con in LA. She is the owner of Typecast Press, a letterpress studio in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, www.typecastpress.com. A big fan of farmers, great food, and dining out, she developed the restaurant identities of all of Spike Gjerde's ground-breaking restaurants. She is always up for discussing Globe projects and ideas, a well as showing off the heavy metal at her own shop.
