About the speaker

CreativeMornings Lisbon and Impact Hub Penha de França present ImmigrantFoodie!

Sergio and Oliver Zaciu (aka ImmigrantFoodie) were raised in a multi-cultural household. Born in Germany to a Turkish mother and a Romanian father, they moved to Bucharest, Romania in 1997 where they spent their formative years until heading to Los Angeles to attend film school at Chapman University and USC.

In 2020, they returned to Romania to work under the guidance of their mentor, Cristian Mungiu. In 2021, they helped Cristian write R.M.N., which had its world premiere at the Cannes Official Selection in 2022.

Since then, they’ve cultivated a successful restaurant review brand with ImmigrantFoodie on Instagram while working in parallel as writer-directors.

Their latest short film, Smecherie, was financed in part by Creative Europe Media and is bound for the 2025 film festival circuit.

ABOUT THEIR TALK

They’ll detail their journey from being in a band in high school, filmmakers in college, foodies in Lisbon, and the way they always found success by never trying to do the same thing at the same time, keeping multiple eggs in multiple baskets, and embracing their strengths and weaknesses.

Learn as they did to unlock your creative potential by setting ego aside, never insisting on having just one job, and doing something you love with someone you love.
