LOCAL with Lewis Prosser

Lewis Prosser is an absurdist basketmaker, artist and curator based in Penarth. Using traditional craft techniques alongside performance, he explores regional identity, cultural exchange and public ceremony. His work employs humour and theatricality to trace relationships between objects, people and place, often through the creation of outlandish basketry forms.

In this Creative Mornings talk, he will demonstrate a few traditional weaving techniques while reflecting on his own journey into basketry. Like the process of making a basket, the talk will be an improvised, unpredictable dialogue between material and maker, exploring themes of craft access, sustainable making, and the importance of having fun.
