Leigh Tauss

Leigh Tauss is an award-winning journalist based in Raleigh, North Carolina. She previously served as a senior staff writer for the Triangle’s alt-weekly newspaper, INDY Week, and has also reported for The Washington Post and The Daily Beast.

Her work covering the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests received national recognition. She’s also known for long-form feature stories and investigative deep dives into politics, racial justice, development, and environmental issues.

“For me, this work is a calling,” Tauss said. “I’m a storyteller interested in exploring the human nuances overlooked in the dissonance of clunky bureaucracy, ultimately to hold power to account and sometimes just to find a spec of beauty in the chaos. ”
