She took no BS from anyone, fought against tyranny, rose to power in a male-dominated territory, gave birth on the high seas and immediately went above decks to fight back the invaders that were boarding her ship, won the support of Queen Elizabeth I in a land dispute, and lived as a queen and a pirate until she died in her mid-70s (in the early 1600s)! She was beloved by her people and was very much a historical badass.
