Keith Neltner has designed albums for some of the most epic names in bluegrass, developed brands for breweries across the country and remade iconic names. Since starting his own business, Neltner Small Batch, he acts as his own account executive, project manager and designer. How he does it all? Embrace the chaos and make sure to love what you do.

About the speaker

Keith Neltner grew up and worked on his family’s farm in Camp Springs, Kentucky. His escape from everyday chores was art. Keith drew on discarded wood and metal, and even real paper when it wasn’t needed for a more practical purpose.

Just as a farm is designed to grow, Keith’s interests expanded. Music had always been part of the Neltner homestead, from the porch radio playing country music on WLW, to the bluegrass pickers at family gatherings. Keith began to design and illustrate posters and album covers for a number of rock, country and roots artists, from Waylon Jennings to Modest Mouse.

After design school, Keith worked in advertising and branding agencies as a designer and creative director on some of America’s best-known brands. After 15 years in an agency environment, Keith launched his own business in 2012.

Today with over two decades of experience in the music industry and branding, Keith leads Neltner Small Batch, a team of intensely creative people based in a Camp Springs gambrel style studio. Partnering with the best people he can find, raising his family and nurturing the community where his forefathers settled in 1892.
