In a live performance painting and deeply personal talk, Justin Sigel shares how creativity gratitude and vulnerability become acts of hope proving that even the smallest spark can keep us moving forward.
At January’s CreativeMornings Palm Beach held at Mounts Botanical Garden, performance painter and visual artist Justin Sigel opened the new year with a live painting created in minutes blending movement music and emotion in response to the global theme Koorsoo. Justin reflected on his upbringing in Ohio where art became an early escape and a source of survival. He shared how discovering live performance painting revealed the power of creativity as a shared experience and eventually led to widespread visibility through social media. Despite rapid growth and success Justin found himself disconnected from his work creating for algorithms rather than from the heart which led to burnout loss of identity and a deep sense of darkness. A turning point came through a moment of clarity and gratitude when Justin realized that being familiar with darkness did not mean he had to live within it. Gratitude became a daily practice and a lens through which he began to see light even in hardship loss and disappointment. Returning to Palm Beach County marked a full reset releasing expectations ending unhealthy relationships and rediscovering creativity as a necessary act of healing and self expression. Justin framed Koorsoo as an action rather than a feeling. Hope is something we create by choosing to make and give what is within us. Through art presence and gratitude he now works to transform darkness into light reminding us that creativity itself can be a quiet rebellion and a powerful offering to the world.
