Promise is hope, Promise is our future, Promise is our children.
Junior explores the theme of Promise by sharing a preview of his film Stand Together. He created the film in response to the death of George Floyd and the way that the event deeply affected him. “In the wake of George Floyd’s death I was broken. I realised that I had over estimated where we were in our promise to have an equal, multi cultural society. I needed something to pour my attention into, something that could help me heal but also that could shed a light on the support that I was getting. We often use the term ‘promise’ in terms of potential and making the film reaffirmed to me that there is potential in society. We are just much more behind that than we had anticipated. We are moving slower than I allowed myself to believe. But there is still promise, and promise is hope. Promise is our future and our children.“
