As the only dedicated liberal arts institution in the University of North Carolina system, UNC Asheville kindles learning by offering students an intellectually rigorous education that builds critical thinking and workforce skills to last a lifetime. Small class size, award-winning faculty and a nationally acclaimed undergraduate research program foster innovation as well as recognition.
Echoview is an innovative fiber processing and manufacturing hub that’s a catalyst for connecting community with commerce. We deliver products and services that fuel the American spirit of hard work and self-expression.
Echoview honors America’s pioneering past but always has an eye on the future. We are innovators, believers and dreamers. We’re also doers. We intend to bring pride to the label “Made in America.” America has always celebrated the individual. But at the same time, we know we’re stronger together. Our country is a lot like a patchwork quilt. Each square is important on its own, but each one also enhances the beauty of the entire creation.
East Fork Collection is simple and fundamental. Unadorned, the work is distilled to its essential elements: form and function. It is durable and timeless, resistant to fashion and trends. The pots do not designate a specific maker but are stamped, simply, EAST FORK. They are made by all the members of our workshop.
The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design advances the understanding of craft by encouraging and supporting research, critical dialogue, and professional development in the United States.
The Center administers three national award programs: the Craft Research Fund Program for independent and graduate scholars, the Windgate Fellowship Award Program for emerging craft artists graduating from universities, and the Windgate Museum Internship Program for craft-focused curatorial internships within museums. Additionally, the Center convenes national meetings, curates exhibitions, programs lectures and workshops, and sponsors international residencies.

Buchi is a community centered, women founded and 15% worker-owned business continuing the ancient folk tradition of brewing kombucha, a living, probiotic rich, all-natural beverage. We started brewing kombucha so our families would have a healthy alternative to high fructose corn syrup beverages and caffeine laden energy drinks.
Our story begins in the heart of the world’s oldest mountain chain, where we found each other in the most serendipitous way. After years of home brewing kombucha individually, we met through our children’s home school co-op and we soon discovered we each separately brewed an almost identical tasting kombucha. We teamed up and after a year of experimentation and research, with kids at play and baby on back…Buchi was born!

The Courage to Change This talk will center on courage and change, powerful forces that are, I believe, connected. How do unleash courage in our lives and in the world … and what happens when we actually do? How do we summon the courage to change in our personal, interior lives and in our shared, public lives?
