We design all of our products together and screen print everything in house. We spent 2015 and 2016 taking our 1987 turquoise renovated short bus to outdoor craft shows and sharing our products with people from all over the globe. In 2017 we opened up a brick and mortar store in a gorgeous old photography studio in downtown Asheville, NC and hired a team! So happy to have moved the screen printing set up out of our kitchens we are now looking forward and we are so excited to expand the company, keep creating and making great quality products that bring smiles to people far and wide…

Water is Life Though she considers herself more of a land lubber, water has always played prominently in Jael Rattigan’s story. From growing up in Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes, to uprooting and settling on the Caribbean Sea of Costa Rica, to relocating to Asheville and creating French Broad Chocolates—whose namesake is our beloved, ancient river—Jael believes Water connects us all and tells our shared stories.
“No man ever steps in the same river twice… for it is not the same river, and he is not the same man.” — Hericlitus
The metaphor of the river has taken on new significance of late, representing the only constant in life—change. Join Jael as she shares the ups and downs of her story—from effortless floats to threatening white water—through the metaphor of the river.
