Ian Dommisse speaks about giving plastic waste a new purpose
About the speaker
Ian Dommisse is a freelance architect and social entrepreneur. He received his masters in architecture in 2012 from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and has worked and gained experience in the built environment.
In 2013 he founded The EcoBrick Exchange, an recycling Non Profit Company, which builds township preschools using upcycled plastic waste. Ian’s love of collaboration and correspondence makes him integral in the growth and community aspect of the project.
This community upliftment project seeks to breathe new life into unwanted waste materials. The goal of this initiative is to incorporate these unwanted materials in the construction of an educational facility, and in so doing, simultaneously clearing streets of litter, reducing landfill and providing a classroom for a community in need.
