About this FieldTrip

Taking the time to create a personal style guide will help cut down on the time you spend creating and editing written content in the future — with many additional benefits for those working on a content team. In this FieldTrip, Maddy will walk attendees through the basic structure of The Blogsmith Style Guide, which has helped her scale her content writing agency to a team of 25+.

This FieldTrip will focus on creating guidelines that are actionable for you and collaborators, sharing detailed rules to follow for uniformity. Working through a provided template, you’ll leave with the foundation for your own personal or brand style guide to create consistent, high-quality content for any project.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ We’ll start with a primer on why style guides are an important part of the writing process: whether you’re writing for many brands or your own projects!

✔️ I’ll share The Blogsmith Style Guide, the 30+ page resource the writers and editors on my team use to consistently deliver high-quality content across multiple clients. You’ll have access to dig in deeper even after the FieldTrip concludes.

✔️ With some background style guides and a finished example, together, we’ll go through a blank template and you’ll have time to start customizing your personal content style guide.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
