About the speaker

Hael Kobayashi is the Associate Director at the Creative Industries Innovation Centre (CIIC) for the University of Technology in Sydney. As Associate Director, Hael brings substantial knowledge and expertise across the Creative Industries to the CIIC.

Hael has more than 30 years experience in film, digital and new media, design and performing arts. He has held senior management roles with Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light + Magic and DreamWorks Animation, and was one of the producers for Australia’s Animal Logic on the Oscar winning, animated feature “Happy Feet”. Since 2004, Hael has been involved with Sydney’s emergence as a creative innovation hub, and he is the Chair of Digital Sydney.
