Form + Function = a Better Experience
About the speaker
Imagine this: You're the founder of an apparel company, sitting around the office one day when you get news that one of your main competitors is pulling off a genius PR stunt – sponsoring a runner as he attempts to break the Guinness World Record in the fastest half mile run by providing the runner's uniform, a custom business suit (jacket, tie, and all). What do you do? Well, in the case of Gihan Amarasiriwardena, you don your own company's suit and break the record yourself.
Gihan is the cofounder and Chief Design Officer of Ministry of Supply, a Boston-based apparel company whose mission is to solve everyday problems with clothing designed to better connect with the form of the body, thus leaving one truly unrestricted to focus on their daily pursuits. An MIT-trained engineer who's really a creative at heart, Gihan combines his love of aesthetics and technology to deliver a human-centric approach to clothing design and manufacturing, allowing he and his team to create products which outperform their traditional contemporaries.
