About the speaker
Frank Gaard is an artist, painter, and teacher responsible for vibrant cartoon-like paintings and causing a ruckus. “Known for his brash personality and his idiosyncratic art practice” (Walker Art Center), Frank has been an important figure in the Minneapolis art scene for over four decades. Taught at MCAD 1969-1987 and published the cult zine, Artpolice, from 1974 to 1994.
The Minneapolis College of Art and Design is recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to visual arts education. Home to 800 students, it offers professional certificates, bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of science degrees, and graduate degrees.

When does the event start? Doors open and registration starts at 8:30am. We’ll have coffee ready for you. Speaker will begin at 9am.
Parking? Those with cars are typically able to find free, unrestricted parking on the streets surrounding MCAD’s campus. The college also has a parking lot located at the intersection of 26th Street East and Second Avenue South where you can park for $0.25/hour.
