About the speaker
Euan Robertson is a senior lecturer at the School of Design, College of Creative Arts, Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand.
Before entering academia, Euan spent over 28 years in the Design and Advertising industries first as a graphic designer then advertising art director and creative director both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In that time he was also owned numerous start up businesses in Advertising/Design, e-commerce and international marketing, specialising in creative and communications strategies. His research interests include societal constructs around gender stereotypes representations with a New Zealand perspective. His current research platform explores New Zealand’s national and cultural identity through performance and narrative projections.
Euan was subject director for the Advertising Design programme while employed in communications industry. He now coordinates a number of ideation courses across the eclectic School of Design and College disciplines where innovative teaching practices have been recognised by teaching awards. Euan strives to instil the desire to grasp knowledge and explore outside the confines of the social norms. His industry experience, recognised research and commitment to empowering students has benefitted many graduates now employed in successful careers, reaching the top echelons of their creative fields and now influencing future creative thinking and innovation.
