Designing interactive experiences requires an interactive approach. Traditional writing habits and outdated models are holding you back.

Starting to write things down really changed the way that we formulated and communicated thoughts.
The only way to create good interactive language is by interacting with other people.
For knowledge to be preserved, it had to be expressed in interesting, memorable words. Because if the knowledge didn’t persist in the thought of a living human, it disappeared. And I kind of wish we had that today.
It’s so strange that we can type all day long in these chat interactions, but when your brain goes into “writing mode,” it explodes.

I came to be working "on the web" through training in graphic design. The more time I've spent in this career, the more I've realized interaction design has little to do with visuals, compared to language. In addition to being understandable and conversational, interface text in universal design must also be accessible and translatable. More than simply being tone-deaf, "ahhhhhhhmazing" and "check the deets" fall apart when read by a screen reader or parsed through a translator.
Great talk, thank you for this !
