Endurance with Eva Spoof

Design Museum

part of a series on Endurance

About the speaker

What is left behind of the era we live in? On October 27th, ceramic artist Eva Spoof shares her Earth-friendly approach to pottery in line with Endurance, this month’s theme at CreativeMornings/Helsinki.

Having graduated at a time when the large-scale production of ceramics ceased in Finland, Eva learned the importance of a unique point of view. For this artist, Finnish wild clay and a focus on the long run – with product development often measured in years – enable enduring, ethically made objects to take shape.

What keeps Eva going after 30+ years at the wheel? What is the value of local, sustainably sourced raw materials in an industry with environmental and societal impacts? How can ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’ help us make more considered objects, in the manner of mindful pottery?

Meet us at the Design Museum to learn more. Breakfast is served at 8.15 am, the talk takes off at 9 am. Take it from us, the early wake-up call is worth it – we welcome you with open arms!
