Emily Royall shares how to fake it ‘til you make it

Our speaker doesn’t condone lying, but telling a lie altered her life for the better. Emily Royall speaks about how she went from studying Organic Chemistry to a career in Architecture, Art and Data Design. Her journey shows us how sometimes we need to make room for ourselves at the table.

About the speaker

Emily Royall is a data professional, digital activist and curator exploring equity in smart cities. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in Texas, France, New York and Massachusetts. Emily recently accepted a new role as Smart City Coordinator in the Office of Innovation at the City of San Antonio. Emily serves on the Steering Committee of San Antonio’s Digital Inclusion Alliance (DIASA), that strives to deliver equitable internet access to all San Antonio residents, and also serves on the Steering Committee of the Alamo Regional Data Alliance (ARDA). As an arts curator, Emily works to create platforms for local and regional artists to show work on themes of technology and culture in the urban Southwest. She completed a Masters in City Design & Development at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
