About the speaker
The truth is that I didnât find art. Art found me.
Nancy Anderson is a selfâtaught mixedâmedia and foundâobject artist whose creative life began not in a studio, but in forgotten fields, alleys, and salvage yards. âI didnât find art. Art found me,â she says â a truth that has shaped her decadesâlong journey of transforming discarded materials into meaningful, wearable shrines. As the founder of Sweet Bird Studio, born in 1988 beside the furnace in her basement, Nancy has built an internationally recognized body of work that blends eras, stories, and sunâaged purpose into jewelry collected by musicians, celebrities, and art lovers around the world.
Her pieces have appeared in films, galleries, major craft shows, and countless publications, yet her creative spark remains rooted in the same hunterâgatherer instinct that captivated her as a child wandering Turkish bazaars and museum halls. Beyond her studio practice, Nancy is a devoted teacher and social artist, sharing her creative process with students of all ages at universities, workshops, and community programs. She also mentors teens through Natural Highs and coâleads Stay Wild, a conservationâdriven project supporting rhino rescue efforts in Africa.
Local partners
As a local, independent bakery, our choices are entirely guided by a desire to nourish our neighbors and foster community. Over the years, weâve continually refined our process to better serve those goals, sticking to the following practices: Moxie Bread Co. is a communityâfocused, independent bakery committed to nourishing neighbors through traditional, sustainable practices. They bake with organic, unprocessed heirloom grains sourced directly from family farms, use long slow fermentation for better digestion and nutrition, and partner with local Colorado artisans to feature highâquality, valuesâaligned products in their shops.
