Through her story of breaking down walls & prejudice, and of learning to lean in and upon each other, contemporary dance pioneer and live arts curator Dena Davida takes us on her path of self-revelation and community-building, to living in her dream life.
About the speaker
Dena Davida (PhD) has assumed multiple roles in the contemporary dance community for 45 years as performer, teacher, contact improvisor, curator, writer and researcher. U.S. born to a family of artists, she immigrated to MontrĂ©al in 1977 where she co-founded and curates MontrĂ©al's premiere dance performance space Tangente. She taught in the Dance Department of the UniversitĂ© du QuĂ©bec Ă MontrĂ©al (1979 to 2010) and completed a doctorate in artistic dance ethnography (2006) in the Programme dâĂ©tudes et pratiques des arts. Her current project is to contribute to developing a field of study for the live and performing arts curation.
