Sonya Matejko

I write words and help people find them | Freelance writer | Part-time poet | Full-time wellness enthusiast | Soon-to-be published author | Founder of Nurtured Narratives at Nurtured Narratives.

Vienna, Austria

Sonya Matejko adores writing words and helping people find them(selves). As a writer, poet, author, and founder, she uses words to make people feel seen and heard (and does so using the Oxford comma). Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Forbes, Business Insider, HuffPost, Yoga Journal, and more. Her writing will soon appear on bookshelves with Everlasting Spring, her debut poetry collection (Yorkshire Publishing, January 21, 2025). Sonya is also the founder of Nurtured Narratives, a writing services company rooted in wellness, where she helps brands and female founders tell their stories (well). About this FieldTrip

In a world of overflowing inboxes, unanswered texts, and TikToks, there’s nothing quite like receiving a handwritten letter these days.

When you get a handwritten letter, you know that whoever gave it to you really took their time to write to you. And with time being so precious, getting this letter makes you feel seen and appreciated.

In this workshop, we will harness that feeling—and spread it far and wide.

You’re invited to Dear You, a letter-writing workshop that welcomes you to express yourself to various people, places, and experiences in your life.

Whether you’re writing to a loved one or a place you love, this workshop will guide you in crafting a series of meaningful letters. (And it’s up to you whether you send or keep them!)

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ Over 60-minutes, you’ll also get tips on writing better letters, advice for how to get your feeling onto paper (even if a blank page feels intimidating), and get the opportunity to share with like-minded individuals.

✔️ Check-In: We’ll begin with writing down a few words about how we’re feeling—to be used later.

✔️ The Art of Letter Writing: Why letter writing? What makes a good letter? And how do you write a good letter? Learn the basics about the art of letter writing.

✔️ Writing Practice: You’ll be led through 3-4 different prompts that’ll help you write letters to various characters in your life—from loved ones to cities you once loved.

✔️ Sharing: We’ll separate into optional breakout rooms where you’ll have an opportunity to share one of your letters or share the most impactful letter you’ve ever received. Sharing is completely optional—but highly encouraged!

🎒What To Know Before Hand

All you need to participate is a pen/pencil, a journal (or several pieces of paper), and curiosity for letting writing.

❤️ This FieldTrip Includes Optional Breakout Rooms

Breakout rooms on FieldTrips are an opportunity to create meaningful connections with participants from around the world. If you do not feel like joining one for any reason, no worries! We’ll always make sure you have something to do introspectively in the main room.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
