A former newspaper columnist shares how launching “Food as a Verb” helped him rediscover purpose by spotlighting the farmers, butchers, and makers our media overlooks—and argues that reconnecting with the ground beneath us can heal what ails modern life.

About the speaker

David Cook is the co-founder of Food as a Verb, the region's only media devoted to local food stories. Along with Sarah Unger and Alex DeHart, David publishes stories that spotlight the people and places at the heart of our local food landscape.

A former columnist with the Times Free Press, David taught high school English for two decades. The Chattanooga native is attempting to farm and homestead, slowly, with plenty of mistakes, joy and grace.
