D. Ross “Scribe” shares how he uses art to create a sense of wonder and distraction in children as they undergo medical procedures at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

About the speaker

Donald “Scribe” Ross is a Kansas City-based artist with a national following in the graffiti and street art world. He serves as the artist-in residence at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri — the only position of its kind in the country. Scribe’s friendly animal characters amuse and entertain young patients in the hospital’s ambulances, planes, waiting rooms and operating theaters, making Children’s Mercy a more welcoming place to visit.
