About the speaker

Neurodivergence isn’t about better or worse. It’s about being different in ways that complement the neurotypical approach. Yet, navigating a world not built for divergent minds can leave many feeling like failures. Their CVs might be chaotic scatterplots of roles and industries. They’re often labeled as having trouble with authority. And their performance seems to just randomly swing from the highest highs to the lowest lows.

When Abel was laid off in 2024, he found himself unemployed for the first time in his career. And despite years of working across several industries and developing a huge variety of skills, he succumbed to feeling like a failure…until he hyperfixated on the neurodivergent community. These neurological features aren’t bugs to be patched, but layers of complexity that support and even complete the neurotypical mind.

In his CreativeMornings session, "Creativity Needs Layers of Neurodivergent and Typical Thinking," Abel will share how he’s reconceived his neurodivergent “shortcomings” as essential to a creative team’s success. Divergent or not, you’ll gain a richer understanding and appreciation for spicy minds through his stories, humor, and practical applications of neurodivergent thinking in the creative process.

We’re also excited to be hosting this event at International House Gothenburg - the perfect spot to celebrate a full year since our first event there!
