💗 Believe. Belong. Become: A Guide to Empathetic Leadership

Overview 557 Lovely Attendees

About this FieldTrip

The news is full of examples of how not to lead and not a whole lot of examples of what good leadership looks like. To lead with empathy starts with developing a strong personal North Star, a true sense of belonging, and a commitment to personal growth.

In short, great leaders today know how to set a course for every teammate to believe, belong, and become. Experience Institute’s FieldTrip on Empathetic Leadership offers an opportunity to practice three tools designed to help you lead with more empathy for yourself and your team.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ Short Lecturettes: We’ll introduce you to our Empathetic Leadership framework: Believe. Belong. Become. That framework serves as the guide for our FieldTrip. For each ingredient, we’ll share theory, research, and stories to bring the concept alive. Don’t worry, we call them “lecturettes” because they’re short. Experiential learning (emphasis on experience!) is more our thing.

✔️ Personal Reflection and Practice: For each of our “B words,” you’ll practice with a tool that helps you reflect on that aspect of your leadership. For example, you’ll begin by defining your personal North Star during our exploration of the “Believe” motivator. We’ll provide a virtual workbook, so you’ll have something concrete to return to after the FieldTrip.

✔️ Sharing in Breakout Rooms: Learning in community with others is a key ingredient to our FieldTrip magic, and there’s a ton of wisdom in the FieldTrip room. In breakout rooms, you’ll be in groups of about three FieldTrippers, and we’ll provide prompts to guide your conversations.

✔️ Commitment to Action: The FieldTrip is only where the learning begins! It continues when you apply what you’ve learned back to your life and work. We call this “taking a leap.” You’ll make a plan for how you can get started on your leap in the next 7 days.

❤️ This FieldTrip Includes Optional Breakout Rooms

Breakout rooms on FieldTrips are an opportunity to create meaningful connections with participants from around the world. If you do not feel like joining one for any reason, no worries! We’ll always make sure you have something to do introspectively in the main room.

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

🖊️ Bring a pen and paper: We’ll provide a virtual workbook once you’re in the zoom room, but many people prefer good ol’ pen and paper for this kind of reflection.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
