About the speaker

Ashleigh Parsons founded alma in 2012. She is the creative and operating partner. Her background brings a blend of expertise in education and restaurants and she draws upon these distinct lenses to act as the operating and creative partner of alma. She received a masters in education from Harvard University in 2012. She staged at La Chassagnette, a Michelin starred restaurant in southern France in 2010 and again in 2015, focusing on michelin star service and foraging and gardening. Aligned with her dedication to educating youth around health and wellness, she founded Alma Community Outreach 501(c)(3) in 2012. Today the program is partnered with three charter schools and one foundation in the low-income neighborhood of Rampart, Los Angeles and administers a gardening and cooking curriculum to over 150 students - ages 5 to 18 - each week.
