Join a panel from Art & Soul in this discussion about acknowledging your pain and seeing how we can make room for joy by releasing it through rituals and somatic practices.

Art and Soul Nashville is a creative expression studio that pairs art making of all kinds (painting, sculpture, writing, sounding, dance, and more) with somatic practices to help artists of all levels get into a creation space. This panel of Art & Soul artists, Lola Von, Lee LaChance, and Amanda Cantrell Roche, is moderated by former CMNSH speaker Sonia Fernandez LeBlanc and serves as an open discussion of artistic practice and transmuting our feelings into practice. Together at our final event of the year, they’ll answer your questions, invite in the pain, and see what comes up when we make ourselves more present and use all of our experiences in our creative pursuits. As we consider the many kinds of pain (physical, emotional, financial, etc), we can remember that pain doesn’t just happen to us, it comes to us to be honored and brings things into the light that we need to acknowledge. We close the event with a shared practice of processing together, and invite you to join us in releasing and then see what wants to come to the page, directly from your heart. Hear the messages your pain brings you and make room within ourselves for joy as we acknowledge the darker parts to let in more light. We apologize for some audio feedback during the discussion, but we promise it’s worth it!

About the speaker

We are honored to host a panel of Art & Soul Members to lead a discussion and workshop on Pain and expressive arts practices. Your panelists are:

Lola Von is a multidisciplinary process artist who offers her work as healing pieces for both her and audiences alike. She offers a hybrid of experiential coaching and expressive arts healing through play and performance to share her fifteen years of research in trauma, addiction, dysfunctional behavior, codependency and inner child work to individuals who seek deep growth and development.

Lee LaChance is a writer, editor, and teacher who also experiments with multimedia art. When she’s not writing, editing, making art or teaching, you might find her hiking in the woods or on another impromptu road trip to wherever.

Amanda Cantrell Roche is a teaching artist working in schools, with court-ordered youth, and in community settings. She is a narrative artist with an activism focus who taps into somatic practices and creative flow in her work as an adjunct faculty at Onsite, and a facilitator at Art and Soul.

The talk will be moderated by CMNSH speaker alum and Art & Soul member, Sonia Fernandez LeBlanc.

Sonia Fernández LeBlanc is medicinal story weaver, a magical realist, and a guide supporting InterSovereign community connection. Her current scholarly weavings and creationing is at the intersection of Ancient Futuring and the Imaginal Realm.
