Angel Zahariev

“Architecture is ethics. What makes us a city, and other contemporary dilemmas”.

Meet architect Angel Zahariev - talented, successful and well known for his work. More than 10 years ago together with a colleague of his he founded “A and A Architects”. The studio’s portfolio holds the design and execution of a number of key projects in Sofia, such as Business Park, Capital Fort and Muzeiko. For many of his projects, arch. Angel Zahariev has been recognised with some of the highest ranked awards in the country, such as “Building of the year”.

Along with his architecture practice, arch. Angel Zahariev puts a lot of energy and effort into another sphere - his work as a lector and mentor of workshops and conferences, as well as his periodic appearances as a guest lecturer at the architecture faculty at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (where he graduated). In his educational portfolio you can also find the IHS at Erasmus University, Netherlands.

A few years ago together with some of like-minded people they create “Grupa Grad” with the cause to fight for a positive change in the public architecture in Bulgaria. Over the last months he’s also part of an initiative committee which aims to change the system for city planning in Sofia.

Architect Angel Zahariev loves to think and talk about topics connected to the social role of architecture, the industry and the opportunities for innovation. The topic of his lecture will be “Architecture is ethics. What makes us a city, and other contemporary dilemmas”.
