About the speaker

Andi Teran is a writer and performer from the deserts of West Texas. Her nonfiction has been published by Vanity Fair, Monocle, and the Paris Review, and her interview subjects have included David Lynch, Miranda July, Kim Gordon, and Mike Mills among many others.
After a decade in New York City, she moved to Los Angeles and subsequently embarked on a state-wide road trip to research a developing coming-of-age story which would become her debut novel, Ana of California. Published to critical acclaim in Summer 2015 by Penguin Books, the novel is a modernization of Anne of Green Gables told through the eyes of Ana Cortez, an orphaned Mexican-American teenager who leaves East Los Angeles with hope for a better future on Northern California’s Lost Coast.
Andi’s other projects include co-writing and starring in an Off-Broadway play, directing a short film which opened The Book Was Better Film Festival in Muir Woods, and exhibiting her ongoing series of photographs of rocks resembling monsters.
