Aliyeh Rizvi

Aliyeh Rizvi is the Founder of Native Place and works to build awareness of Bangalore's local history and culture through curated experiences, travel writing and city based collaterals.

She is an avid traveller, both in the city and out of it and is a contributing writer to the National Geographic Traveller magazine and dailies including the Bangalore Mirror, the Hindu and DNA. She is a communications professional with experience in advertising, retail communication and the social sector and was till recently Curator, Centre for Public History, Srishti School of Art Design and Technology where she led a popular Public History Project titled `The Tiger Comes to Town' to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Archaeological Survey of India.

She holds a Post-Graduate degree in Communication from Bangalore University. She blogs and writes about the Bangalore she grew up in, to save it from vanishing. As a long term member of Bangalore Little Theatre, she also writes and directs plays for children.

Her talk `The Past in the Present' will look at how a shared local history contributes to our collective and personal identities as Bangaloreans.It will also explore ways in which we can continue to create space for it while moving into the future.
