Alicja Bielawska über ihre Ausstellung im Polnischen Institut Düsseldorf: Ein Ort zum Einrollen und Ausrollen der Zeit.

About the speaker

Join us for a special CreativeMornings conversation between artist Alicja Bielawska and curator Katarzyna Słoboda within the exhibition “A Place for Folding and Unfolding Time” at the Polish Institut Düsseldorf on November 14th. Together, they will explore how time, memory, and material intertwine in Bielawska’s installations — inviting us to experience rhythm, stillness, and presence in new ways. The exhibition reveals time as a tangible, flexible substance that can be folded, stretched, and woven into space. Through undulating sculptural forms and drawings, Bielawska creates a delicate balance between the material and the ephemeral, between motion and pause.

Alicja Bielawska – sculptor, works with drawings, installations, sculptures and writes poetry. Her work focuses on the material sphere of everyday life and the relationships between objects, interiors and memories, touching on the relativity of human perception and the role of memory. She is a graduate in Art History (University of Warsaw) and Fine Arts (Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam); she holds PhD in Fine Arts and completed two-stage courses in experimental choreography at Centrum w Ruchu in Warsaw.
