Additional details
For this month’s event you can leave your laptop closed! We are leaving the virtual space and going on a walking tour through monumental Munich.
When we call something monumental, we mean it as a matter of scale. Societies erect statues and build squares and dedicate memorials to prevent the past from being buried.
Munich is a city full of monumental architecture, statues, and symbols. Some monuments are literal, and some are unseen, but all of them are there to commemorate not just people but also events, ideas, feelings, and entire periods in history.
This month, our speaker is an experienced tour guide who brings personality and theatrical style to telling stories and shows us that HOW we learn about monuments is as important as the history itself.
We will meet at Marienplatz and learn about a combination of monuments, statues, symbols, architecture, legends, and historical figures on our way to Odeonsplatz.
