I’ve always been a late bloomer. I’ve learned that doesn’t mean behind. It means on my own timeline.

And this book? It’s one of them.

I recently said yes to a creative challenge with a collective release date: 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟵𝘁𝗵.

No overthinking. No perfect timing.

Just a decision:
Finish it. Release it. Move forward.

Doing it: Dedicating the month of May to a part of me...

I decided to join in with @creative.quest and @creativemorning challenge to participate in National Release Day 2026 on May 29. My goal is to COMPLETE THE FIRST DRAFT ON THE CHILDREN'S BOOK I AM WRITING in association with my upcoming gallery show "Objects Through Time: Connection, Story, and Legacy" In collaboration with Amy Wilderson and Katy St. John! The gallery reception will be on August 14 at F-O- K Studios in St. Paul, MN (near Harriet Island). They idea for this book was sparked by meeting with my collaborating artists (Katy and Amy) relating to how special objects can tie us to our past, narrate our stories, and travel though time to create meaning. This book follows best friends on adventures through time. :) WATCH THIS SPACE as I DO A LOT OF SKETCHING to work out my characters and draw and design my pages. JOIN ME on my journey FROM SKETCHES TO COMPLETED BOOK. This is a HUGE undertaking for the month, but I feel like I benefit from the urgency of setting a deadline. Especially leading up to the gallery show dates, which will leave me time for finishing details and to figure out how to print the book and/or find a publisher. Goal for Release Day May 29: Rough draft of children's book! Rolfe likes to point out (somewhere between a comment and a critique) that I take too long to do what I do. He’s not wrong.

“But on-edge paper is a slow art!” I tell him, unconvincingly. Nevertheless, challenge accepted. How can I make on-edge pieces that take less time without losing their impact? More bang for the buck. Watch this space.

Gah! I don't think I've ever been more excited about something that rallies fellow creative and gentle souls in the world.

Have you heard about RELEASE DAY?

@creativemorning is dedicating the month of May to the word CREATE, inviting everyone to reconnect with their creativity and work on that side project, push something over the finish line, or finally start the thing they've been thinking about.

Consider this an invitation to step away from the algorithms and news cycle and put something out into the world. Anything goes.

I'm going to be reconnecting with art-school Tina. Dedicating time to my sketchbook every day, giving myself permission to play. No overthinking. Just creating. (Some friends of mine are writing poetry, making pottery, writing a song... the range is everything.)

And on May 29th, I'll release the end result for everyone to see over at creativemornings.com/releaseday.

May 29th, that's RELEASE DAY. The gentle deadline we're all agreeing on. A loving, playful deadline.

This is my workspace today.

Not a desk.
Not an office.
Just a moment by the water.

And somehow, it fits.

Because I’m realizing: something is coming together.

Over the past years, I’ve been working with people —
helping them understand who they really are
and how to live and create from that place.

And at some point, I noticed:
this is more than just conversations.

There is a path behind it.

I started to make it visible —
not as a finished system,
but as something you can actually walk.

👉 On May 29, I’ll share it for the first time.

Quietly.
Simply.
Honestly.

Maybe it’s your journey too.

Und irgendwie passt das.

Denn ich merke: Etwas fügt sich.

In den letzten Jahren habe ich Menschen begleitet,
herauszufinden, wer sie wirklich sind –
und daraus zu leben und zu wirken.

Und irgendwann wurde mir klar:
Das ist mehr als einzelne Gespräche.

Da ist ein Weg dahinter.

Ich habe begonnen, ihn sichtbar zu machen –
nicht als fertiges System,
sondern als etwas, das man gehen kann.

👉 Am 29. Mai werde ich das zum ersten Mal teilen.

Still.
Einfach.
Echt.

Vielleicht ist es auch dein Weg.

Really proud of this concept and artwork for #ReleaseDay2026. Working with @creative.quests on bringing a universal creative experience to life through the metaphor of the Big Bang. Suddenly from nothing… EVERYTHING. and that’s what creativity feels like some times. People who participate will be sharing their personal projects with a collective deadline to release that one thing they’ve been putting off or sitting on. Or maybe the project sits just at the beginning. No matter where you are in the journey, the act of release is worth exploring.

Working on this has been the highlight of the year so far and I look forward to releasing my own project. All fireworks and orbs in may. Check out @creativemorningslondon to join the space station!
