Born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, right next door to the infamous Allan Memorial psychiatric hospital hwere the CIA conducted brainwashing experiments. One of seven, my mother had rubella during her pregnancy and was told to expect a deaf, dumb or blind child. She got a miracle birth, and a son with a lifelong weakness for allegories. My working life has led me on many adventures. Among the many gigs and creative occupations: free lance arts reporter; theater columnist; children's theater actor (Bubblegum Theater); projectionist and assistant repertory theater manager (Wormwood's Dog & Monkey Cinema); programmer/movie guide writer at Star Channel Pay TV; officer's messman aboard the Gypsum Empress; Montreal bookstore owner (Ficciones); alternative weekly book columnist in Montreal; book editor ("Boundaries of Identity"); poetry and short story writer; art print gallery owner in Burlington, Vermont (Silver Maple Editions); fine art photographer...Always ready for another creative spark!
