Inspired by the West African heritage of founder Dinzi Amobi, ‘ụlọ’means ‘home’ in Igbo, the Nigerian language spoken by Dinzi and her family. ULO creates beautiful statement pieces using traditional African fabrics that tell a story. Embodying the spirit of the conviviality of Nigerians, their love of wearing colour, entertaining and welcoming people into their homes. This month, Dinzi spoke to us about the influence of strong women in her life, from Nigera to London to Melbourne, and her experience forging her own path from law to fashion. Thanks to our generous local sponsors Think in Colour for making this month’s event more accessible with live captioning via Red Bee Media, to BrightStar and Shayna Burns for supporting our speakers with presentation and SEO coaching, Shadowhouse Music for the original music composition, and Offline Supply Co for the sweet notebooks. Will Dayble co-founded a tech company, a cafe and a tiny house non-profit. He taught systems change and social enterprise at uni, but spends most of his time reading books while pretending to run an education company. He’s given up on entrepreneurship. In May, Will talked to us about how resilience is propaganda! We had a yarn about a few well-meaning ‘scams’: Recycling, grit, carbon footprints, financial literacy, and B-Corps. 🤯Thanks to our generous local sponsors Think in Colour for making this month’s event more accessible with live captioning via Red Bee Media, to BrightStar and Shayna Burns for supporting our speakers with presentation and SEO coaching, Shadowhouse Music for the original music composition, and Offline Supply Co for the sweet notebooks. She loves repair in all its forms but is especially passionate about creative clothes mending and transforming damaged clothes so they’re better than new. On this month’s theme PROCRASTINATE, Erin shared her tips for breaking the habit and also accepting it, as she’s learned that procrasti-mending is an unavoidable and perhaps necessary part of her creative practice.Thank you so much Erin! 💛Thanks to our generous local sponsors Think in Colour for making this month’s event more accessible with live captioning via Red Bee Media, to BrightStar and Shayna Burns for supporting our speakers with presentation and SEO coaching, Shadowhouse Music for the original music composition, and Offline Supply Co for the sweet notebooks. Thank you so much to design thinker Summer Howarth from The Eventful Co for being our February speaker on the global theme DIVERGENT.  Summer showed us how we might use a designer’s mindset to design Ludic Learning experiences; moving away from events that suck. It was awesome.
