Greetings from a thawing Indianapolis!

This month’s global CreativeMornings theme is Ink. We’re thrilled to have designer, illustrator and screen printer, Aaron Scamihorn speaking at the Indianapolis Museum of Art on Friday, March 27.

Aaron has focused on bringing solid aesthetics to brands and bands. Growing up in a home with ceramic artists for parents, creation was a constant theme in daily life. The desire to create physical art was not lost when he chose to enter into a career of design and illustration. After a few years of working only in the digital realm, he taught himself to screen print in effort to fulfill this need to create with his hands.

What started as a few small show fliers for local acts has grown into limited edition gig posters and merchandise for world tours and major labels. Just a few miles away from downtown Indy, operating under the business name Ronlewhorn Industries, Aaron designs and hand screen prints artwork for clients such as Queens of the Stone Age, Cake, Arctic Monkeys, Bayside, Taking Back Sunday and Dropkick Murphys.

A huge thanks to our friend Peter Lockhart for this months poster. We’re thrilled to be partnering with local organizations Studio Science and Sales Force Marketing Cloud this month. Coffee will be generously provided by Quills Coffee. (Give them a warm welcome to Indy!)

This month’s global CreativeMornings theme is Climate. We’re thrilled to have Jesse Kharbanda, Executive Director of the Hoosier Environmental Council, speaking at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful on February 20.

Jesse has focused HEC’s energies around four strategic initiatives: quality of life, clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and 21st century transportation. Jesse is passionate about building bridges, making the case for why environmental protection is integral to Indiana’s future prosperity, and getting people inspired about being environmental-minded citizens.

A huge thanks to our friends BrainTwins for this months poster. We’re thrilled to be partnering with local organizations Vitamin T and Sales Force Marketing Cloud this month. Breakfast and coffee will be generously provided by Tinker Coffee Co. and General American Donut Company.

This months global CreativeMornings theme is Ugly. We’re thrilled to have Indy’s own Dan Thompson speaking at the Indiana State Museum on January 23.

Dan is a man of many talents; his work includes illustration, murals and graffiti.

Thanks to Joey Ponce for designing our December Education poster. Here’s the story behind the art…

"When you said the concept was education, it got me thinking to a specific time in middle school: My english teacher used to read novels to us. And so that we weren’t just sitting there staring off, he would give us all playdoh and we would just sculpt while he read. It worked out really well for me, because I’m a visual note taker. I sketch and doodle while people talk and it actually helps me remember things more than if I were taking really rigid notes.

So, in terms of education, playing with clay has always been a special creative and tactical experience for me. So, I decided to make the words out of clay.

Technically speaking, I rolled out clay, used an X-acto to cut the letterforms out, and then used some tools to smooth them out and lay them out.”
